Chefchaouen Day Trips
Chefchaouen is located in the Rif Mountains, just inside in the north of Morocco, away from Tangier and Tetouan with some hundred kilometers. Chefchaouen was founded in 1471 by Moulay Ali Ben Moussa Ben Rached El Alami, as a small castle which still survives till now.
There are various different mosques in the town. Aside from the mosque at Place UtaHammam in the medina, there is also a mosque committed to the donor saint of Northern Morocco’s Jebalah region, Moulay Abdeslam Ben MchichAlami. His tomb is somehow near from Chefchaouen on the old road to Larache. There is also a desolated mosque established by the Spanish, with stairs still in the tower.
The beauty of Chefchaouen manifested in its high mountains, which are covered by snow in winter. This beauty and the calm atmosphere of the town, makes Chefchaouen very attractive to visitors.
